Anything we assign ourselves to do will feel that way.  I just read verses in no particular order.  Have you signed up with a 'Bible verse of the day'' site?  You can get selected reading, say one chapter, each day.  It really makes things easier and you learn a LOT with those.

That is so true no matter what it is we try to do.  We just have to push our way through it until it becomes a habit and no longer a chore.

tigger,

You can transform this chore into an absorbing and fulfilling activity.  Before opening your Bible ask yourself "What does God want me to learn today and apply to myself?".  Then don't stop with simply reading. Study the portion you have read to draw out everything you can. If you do not have Bible study tools, acquire them and use them. You will be surprised how time will fly when you start digging within the goldmine and pulling out some nuggets.

I too have also found daily reading of the Bible a chore, however it should not be; after all it is the word of God.

Because I find the Bible a chore, I also use Biblical apps to stimulate my interest; these apps have the Bible as a primary feature, however there is something rather fulfilling by using these apps which I find difficult to describe.  The best thing to do is to find the path that suits you and go from there.

It's sad to think some Christians see Bible reading as a chore.

I start reading in Matthew and read till something is meaningful.  I may find nothing in the genealogíes.  But once in a while I do and it starts me on a rabbit trail doing research on who's who.  Once I read about the gentile women in his linage, looking each up and reading all the Bible has to say about them.  Once I noticed how Jesus healed all who came to Him and meditated on all that was said about it for a day or two before proceeding to the next verses.  But I always ask God to speak to me through His Word.  That way I am sure to learn what He wants me to know, and especially what He reveals to us about Himself, His Character, in His Word.   So I highlight these things.
