Shalom, Pamelasv.

Why do we always have to add words to what Yeshua` said?

Matthew 5:3-12
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: (why?) for theirs is the kingdom of heaven (from the sky).
4 Blessed are they that mourn: (why?) for they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek: (why?) for they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: (why?) for they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful: (why?) for they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart: (why?) for they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: (why?) for they shall be called the children of God.
10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: (why?) for theirs is the kingdom of heaven (from the sky).
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. (why?)
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven (in the sky; i.e., when Yeshua` comes back): for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
KJV

The RESURRECTION and the COMING KINGDOM - GOD'S KINGDOM - THE KINGDOM FROM THE SKY - are the answers to these incessant "why's!"

The English word "blessed" comes from the same root as "bliss." It means "HAPPY!" The Greek word being used in this passage is "makarioi," the plural of the word "makarios":

NT:3107 makarios (mak-ar'-ee-os); a prolonged form of the poetical makar (meaning the same); supremely blest; by extension, fortunate, well off:
KJV - blessed, happy (X -ier).

We might say, "You lucky dog!"

The Hebrew or Aramaic word is "aashar," meaning...

OT:833 'aashar (aw-shar'); or 'aasher (aw-share'); a primitive root; to be straight (used in the widest sense, especially to be level, right, happy); figuratively, to go forward, be honest, proper:
KJV - (call, be) bless (-ed, happy), go, guide, lead, relieve.

It's not in being "poor in spirit" in which they will be happy; it's when they can claim what is theirs! When God's Kingdom from the sky comes, THAT'S when they shall be happy!

It's not in "mourning" that they will be happy! (How weird is THAT?!) It's when they shall be comforted in the RESURRECTION of our bodies! How wonderful it will be to see those we've lost come up out of their graves, fully triumphant over death, never to die again! THAT'S "comfort!" It's like the ending of Winston Churchill's funeral: They blew Taps at one end of the cathedral, but after the last note died away, they blew REVEILLE at the other end!

When the King returns, He shall give the "meek" their inheritance, the land they've inherited!

When the King returns, He shall give a feast for all those who are currently "hungry and thirsty."

Those who are merciful to others now shall likewise be shown mercy by the King when He returns in His Kingdom.

Those who are pure in heart shall be as pillars in God's Temple, actually being able to see God!

Those who are the peacemakers now shall be called, "God's children," as He dotes on them for their generosity!

And, if you've been persecuted for the sake of righteousness? You ain't seen NUTHIN', YET! WHOOPIE!

Meditate on this and let it sink in!

Because Satan does not want the literal or correct interpretation and correct hermeneutics of Scripture being used. He wants infallible Bible Scripture.

Has anyone who has replied to this 1 1/2 year old thread bother to check to see when the OP last visited this site?  She has not been here since 2/16/2016, a year ago.

It amazes me when people reply to thread this old and expect a reply when the one they quote has left ... may I suggest that if the subject is important enough, start a new thread.

Those who are the peacemakers now shall be called, "God's children," as He dotes on them for their generosity!

And, if you've been persecuted for the sake of righteousness?

I read in the Gospel of Mathew what Jesus was teaching the people.

But I found of interest that the crowd was of a mix coulture of thought and believes.

It was not as if Jesus had call his disciples on the side, and after explaining to them, a number of things about himself, he recited to them this sermon .

Jesus was talking to a mix crowd, and he must have the answer to WHY in his mind , and that's why he said those things.

He felt the need to prepare his disciples, and to leave an impression to the mix audience that he knew what will happen to him.

So when the things he was talking about himself take place,

(prophetic about himself, his death and his ressuraction and how it will affect those who believed in him, when they happen),

And not only those who believed in him, but also those who contemn him.

Jesus at that time he knew how much sorrow he death will bring to those who believed in him, been the Christ, the Messiah , the one from God with the Life in him.

Who believed that he is the Messiah and as the Messiah he is not supposed to die.

But the time came when they became wittnes to his death.

It is not only when Jesus die that they lost a friend , a teacher , someone very close to them , but also at the same time their hopes that Jesus was the Messiah die at the same time, their hopes about the Messiah were crush .

So JESUS foresee how they will mourn for him and the lost of their faith in him, as the Messiah , and that because they truly believed in him.

So JESUS who knew that he will be raised from the dead, and he will meet them again, and they will be very happy, he said this to them.

That the will mourn at the time of his death,  but soon they will be comforted at the time of the news of his ressuraction.

So when things happen , they will remember and say , "he told us everything but we couldn't understand, before everything took place, but now we understand after everything happened.

And the people who believed in him will say.

JESUS knew of the sorrow we will go through, but he also knew that we will be comforted after we see him , after his ressuraction.

So with this statement of "bless are those who mourn,

(that time,  because of seeing him die on the Cross),

Because they will be comforted with his ressuraction.

And not everyone in that mix crowd who heard JESUS speak, will be mourning at the time of his death.

So JESUS say that only for those who will be mourning when they see him dyeing on the Cross.

The Sermon on the Mount was a mass introduction that the Messiah had arrived.

The baptism in the Jordan was before a relatively small audience. And the miracle in the wedding at Cana

was incidental.

The Sermon on the Mount was also a divine commentary on the Law. Jesus put the teeth back into the Law.

"You have heard it said... but I say..."

Oops! You're right! Isn't that interesting? We DO need to be careful about posting to the "ghosts" of a resurrected subject. Thanks for the enlightenment!

You were not the first poster to revive the thread, but I do appreciate your grace in your answer.
