IRT taking the Lords name in vain.

Is "God" or "god" the Lords name or what He is?

I believe using the word god does not violate the 3rd because it is not a name, it is really not even a title, it is a just a noun.

Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Psalms 103:1

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Ephesians 4:29

To The LORD My GOD

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. Exodus 20:7

Beloved, Of This I Have Not Doubt

But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. Matthew 12:36-37

Beloved, Be Respectful

In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
Isaiah 6:1-4

And Be Blessed

Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
Isaiah 6:5-8

Love, Your Brother Joe

This is an example of false semantics, as anyone who has been brought up in a christian society knows ,even if they ignore it, that God refers to God Almighty, and while it can be said without thinking , it is an insult to Our Creator, and when used habitually, is a  serious business .     The Holy Spirit will tell you, if you listen .

That touches on something I hear a bit in worship songs that bugs me, even though it comes out of the Bible. Words like "you are higher, than all other gods". Everytime I here that, I think there is only one, anything else is fiction or at best, a wannabe!

Isaiah 45...7 times within one chapter does God say that He is God ..there is no other.

I had a group of teenagers in the library and heard them saying the dreaded "omg" and I told the girl she should not say that. Her response was to turn to the others and ask, "What did I say?"  I response I said one day she would be asking God for help..but how would He know if she really meant it. It is so common to hear 5,6 yr olds and younger use the term because they hear it from the parents and think it just an expression of frustration.  What is Holy has become so common place today and that is because so few bother to read the Bible even though they may call themselves 'christian'. There is no one to tell them they are taking a name so Holy and trampling under foot.
