no you are wrong--- he also says faith without works is dead. works are the manifestation of faith- not the cause of it

Hi Algots,

I am willing to discuss various views without argument. Cause I know what you mean about that :).

Jas 2:14  What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

What is your take on that verse.

Repentance is not necessary...only faith.  Not every place belief is brought up is repentance included.

Ephesians 2:8-9 New King James Version (NKJV)

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Where is repentance in this passage? If repentance is a requirement for Salvation then repentance becomes a work.

Einheit über Wahrheit

I see in the passages leading up to this speaking of our faith being tried ,having issues to do with the problem of having respect of persons in the assembly etc.

15  If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16  And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
17  Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Do we actually help those among us, or simply tell them they need more faith? Or do we show them our faith by recognizing and or supplying what they need when we can?

Is Repentance Necessary for Salvation?

It is true that there are numerous Bible verses that speak of the promise of salvation, with no mention of repentance. These merely say to "believe" on Jesus Christ and you shall be saved (Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9). However, the Bible makes it clear that God is holy and man is sinful, and that sin makes a separation between the two (Isaiah 59:1,2). Without repentance from sin, wicked men cannot have fellowship with a holy God. We are dead in our trespasses and sins (Ephesians 2:1) and until we forsake them through repentance, we cannot be made alive in Christ.

The Scriptures speak of "repentance unto life" (Acts 11:18). We turn from sin to the Savior. This is why Paul preached "repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ" (Acts 20:21). The first public word Jesus preached was "repent" (Matthew 4:17). John the Baptist began his ministry the same way (Matthew 3:2). Jesus told His hearers that without repentance, they would perish (Luke 13:3).

If belief is all that is necessary for salvation, then the logical conclusion is that one need never repent. However, the Bible tells us that a false convert "believes" and yet is not saved (Luke 8:13); he remains a "worker of iniquity." Look at the warning of Scripture: "If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth" (1 John 1:6). The Scriptures also say, "He that covers his sins shall not prosper, but whoso confesses and forsakes them [repentance] shall have mercy" (Proverbs 28:13). Jesus said that there was joy in heaven over one sinner who "repents" (Luke 15:10). If there is no repentance, there is no joy because there is no salvation.

When Peter preached on the Day of Pentecost, he commanded his hearers to repent "for the remission of sins" (Acts 2:38). Without repentance, there is no remission of sins; we are still under His wrath. Peter further said, "Repent . . . and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out" (Acts 3:19). We cannot be "converted" unless we repent. God Himself "commands all men everywhere [leaving no exceptions] to repent" (Acts 17:30). Peter said a similar thing at Pentecost: "Repent, and be baptized every one of you" (Acts 2:38).

If repentance wasn’t necessary for salvation, why then did Jesus command that repentance be preached to all nations (Luke 24:47)? With so many Scriptures speaking of the necessity of repentance for salvation, one can only suspect that those who preach salvation without repentance are strangers to repentance themselves, and thus strangers to true conversion.                       https://www.livingwaters.com/witnessingtool/isrepentancenecessaryforsalvation.shtml

Our salvation is by faith alone.  Once we are saved a truly founded in Christ the woks come naturally.  We each need to seek our own gift in Jesus and then share it with those around us.

I do understand this part, that Jesus saves us from hell, and has the power to keep us to be with him always, for no one and nothing can take us from him.

And I know that he saves us and we are under his blood and sealed with the Holy Spirit, and we belong to him and we are in him and one with him, in Spirit.

I do understand that we are saved from Hell, the moment we believe, before and without any works that recommend or accuse.

Then what is this all about, and who is required it, is it Jesus Christ the one who requires to know who has believe or not,

Does he not know ?

Does he need proof ?

Of course he knows and he does not need proof.

But who are the doubters, who need proof, and insist that we don't know, and we can not see the faith in the heart of the people, that's why we need to see and judge the people, the believer in Jesus Christ by their works, at least they do not hide it.

They admit that their Judgement is different than the Judgement of Jesus Christ.

They even judge those who have a different culture than them, they forget that Jesus is above all cultures, they may contemn, but Jesus is not contemning.

God bless, and we thanking for the Savior Jesus Christ.

Salvation comes through faith. Works are the fruits of repentance. Old man is dead and new man is born. So we no longer do things like we did before. But we do things as it is shown in the bible. Our works proclaim that we are saved and we are children of God. Our works are the proof of our love for Jesus. So we are saved by our faith and our works help to preserve it by the help of Holy Spirit.

And they overcame him by the word of their testimony, and the blood of the lamb.

There many people these days who claim to have good works and have change to a new better life, with a clean conscience, and  most of them have faith in God , but they do not have the testimony of Jesus Christ, and the blood of the lamb.

Do you Believe in Salvation by Faith and Works Together? the Apostle Paul Did Not Believe and Teach this. in Phil.2:12, he stated we need both as did James in James 2:14-26.

Eph. 2: 8,9 says we are saved by grace through faith and not by works.   Phil. 2:12 says that we are to work out our salvation with fear and trembling.  It does NOT say we are to work for our salvation.    The Greek renders this as "out work"  meaning that we are  put our salvation on display for others to see.

James 2:14-16 isn't talking about salvation.  He is not talking about how we are justified before God.   He says that our works justify or affirm our confession of faith to others.

Dear brother Prayerful Flower,

Grace and mercy and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

No! Salvation is by grace through faith.

The work of the Eternal is to believe that Christ justifies the wicked:

"Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent." (John 6: 28,29).

"But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin."(Romans 4:5-8).

That is to say, we need to believe that Jesus will justify the sinners he has placed in our lives through us, as well as believe that our sins will be covered by Jesus through their lives by firming together with us His word in us (see Rev 19.8). We should not separate ourselves from those who sin to be free from evil (see Isa 65.5). In fact, it is this type of individual, as we have seen, that acts as a consuming fire in the midst of an immense forest (James 3:6).

Instead, we must let the love of Christ keep us connected to His body, without ever separating from it. The important thing is not how much we have gained or done, but to remain in His goodness for those whom He has given us (John 15:9; Romans 11.22), without leaving them behind. We can’t grow without them (Ephesians 4:15, 16). This is justice.
