Female Paints (?), A Big Sin....

Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. Deuteronomy 4:2

It is not about adding to the Word.  It is about applying it.  It is no different than if I take Deuteronomy 22:5 to show men aren't to wear women's clothes and then apply that to a man that would wear a dress.  The word dress isn't specifically mentioned in scripture, but we know a dress pertains to a woman.  This isn't rocket science.  The Bible doesn't mention pornography by name as a sin, but I can suggest it is not something a Christian should engage in because the Bible tells us not to lust.  Since it isn't specifically named, does that mean I am adding to the Word to say it is wrong?  Where does the Bible say it is a sin to smoke pot?  It doesn't, but we know drunkenness is wrong, so we can make application.

It says to follow the laws of the land, so since pot is illegal in most places-- it's wrong.

If it's legal, I don't see it as a sin. Anymore than cigarettes are.

I see cigarettes as a sin.  In the case of pot, your judgment is being impaired, and since drunkenness is a sin, it stands to reason pot is a sin.

You can smoke without being impaired. Everyone has different tolerance levels.. Like one can drink 2-3 beers and not be legally drunk, where 1 beer might make soembody plastered.

The only reason for smoking pot would be to get high.  To me, that is sinful.  I also believe it is sinful to smoke cigarettes, as the person is defiling their temple.  They are destroying it by intentionally inhaling smoke into their lungs, when God did not design the lungs for that purpose.  We know the damage smoking does, and to do something like that with that knowledge is sinful, at least to me.  I couldn't smoke anything in good conscience.

Sister, dear Sister,,,,,I'm not sure you've put much thought into this? Surely you don't believe that just because something is "legalized" does make it acceptable to God? For example:they have legalized same gender marriage in some States in the USA,,,,,,,does this mean it is okay? Of course not,it is still sinful & no law of the land can change Gods Word or His Ways ..........correct?                                      And to God be the Glory                  With love-in Christ,Kwik

I'll start off by saying I can't go to church because churches are inaccessible to me due to my disability.  I have high functioning autism and as a result severe sensory issues.  Music at services is just too loud.  I've tried earplugs, asked to get the sound lowered at services, nothing seems to work.  Anyway, back to the dress code.  That for me too would make church even less accessible.  Dresses are very uncomfortable, they hurt my skin.  I don't like the seams most dresses have.

Like you said, not everyone can afford nice clothes so I don't think the poor should not be allowed in church because of this.  And for people like me, if I could find a quiet church, I would hope they would make an exception to there dress code so I could attend services.  I would of course dress neatly and not take advantage of that part of the dress code.
