Christians: Is honouring Jesus necessary or could we just look to the "I" within?

There's some who suggest that becoming acquainted with the "I" and you've found God, but this sounds wrong to be as there can be intrusion in your life which is undesirable among other things.

Honoring and worshipping Jesus is the very foundation of Christianity, Psalmone.  He is the author and finisher of our faith.

When we are born again of the Holy Spirit it is Jesus who dwells within.  My prayers is that I might decrease that He might increase.    "I have been crucified with Christ.  It is not I that live, but He that lives in me."  Galatians 6:20

if we focus on the I we are not focused on God. If we are not focused on God, then there is no point to our faith.

Yikes!  Focusing on "I" is the last place of focus we should have ....unless we are focusing on allowing God to shape the "I" into the likeness of his Son.

The Bible tells us to die to self, that to die is gain when life is Christ, and to pick up our crosses daily and to follow Christ.  We can't think on those things or do any of those things if we are internalizing our focus to "find" God within ourselves.

This idea comes from Eastern religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, etc) which is essentially Pantheism -- God is in every part of His creation. But the Bible says that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, therefore the New Birth is essential. Those who are born again have the indwelling Holy Spirit (who is God).  He is the one who enables Christians to live godly in Christ Jesus.
