According to International Christian Concern, after IS takes control of a country, its jihadists systematically destroy any structure that showed the region had any religious history besides Islam. What remains of Iraq's Clock Church now joins the debris of Syria's Temple of Bel, Arch of Triumph and Gate of God. "It's special in Iraq, rich with historical photos and icons," said Chaldean Patriarch Luis Sako of the Clock Church, which was about 100 yards from his childhood home in Mosul. "Destroying that church is destroying the Christian's history and heritage. It's really painful to [a] Christian to see this and that's why they are leaving the country."
