God has several purposes for all of us. One is common to everyone which is to come to knowledge of the saving grace available through the Lord Jesus.

Other purposes is may become fairly quickly once we're saved. Others do not. I've been at this some 30+ yrs and I still don't think I know all the reasons God put me here. It has occurred to me that as we walk with God He adds more purposes based on how good we did with the early ones as well as how close we get to Him and what we learn. Luke 12:48 "to whom much is given, from him much will be required". I'm reminded of a job I once had in a photo studio. I was hired to process film. But they saw I was great with an enlarger so then I was a printer. Next they learned I knew how to take the pictures. They saw I was better than their current photographers because I did it right the first time and I could handle any subject matter given me. And then I was made a photographer. Perhaps God does this with us.

JTC, I think you may be right.  At least this is true in our church.
