My hope in creating this thread is that those of us, or even Seekers, can ask questions about the Bible and any of us Christians, led by the Spirit of God, may answer using Holy Scriptures as a reference for our beliefs.  This is the true purpose of apologetics.  Please keep this civil and try to ask only questions not covered elsewhere in this forum.

I will post a question later, myself, that's been concerning me.  Feel free to get started and may God bless and use this thread/forum for the growth of His people.

There are many bible difficulties all of which come from lack of information.

Once the information is supplied, the difficulties go away.

(Isaiah 40:22; NASB)  It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.

We know that the Earth is not a circle, it's a sphere.  But earth ('erets) may also be translated as land, ground, etc.  Everywhere in the Bible you see earth may also be translated as land or ground.  We should keep that in mind when reading God's word.  Who are the inhabitants Isaiah speaks of here?  God stretches out the heavens like a curtain.  This seems to reinforce the idea of a continuing action by God of spreading out the heavens.  Science agrees that the heavens are still expanding.  Will these heavens that God stretches out be the heavens we will live in after judgment? This verse raises a lot of questions.

If anyone should know that the earth is spherical, it is God. So the word *circle* here is simply another way of saying that the earth is circular because it is spherical. Thus we also have the circuit of heaven in Job 22:14 applied to God, and in Ps 19:6, applied to the sun. These are indications of what science has established, but as far as we are concerned the sun makes a circuit around the earth in common parlance.

When God sees the earth from His vantage point, all the inhabitants of the earth look like grasshoppers sitting on a ball. The heavens as a curtain is another metaphor which indicates the ease with which God has created the first and second heavens. As to space, many believe that space is not limitless but is also contained within a sphere.

No all the 1st creation has been cursed do to sin and our choice of it and will be utterly burnt up...

 1 Pe 1:7
7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
KJV

the key word here is gold that Perisheth... not refined made better but perisheth!

2 Pe 3:10-13
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
KJV

You are answering questions not asked.  I am specifically talking about Isaiah 40:22, not 1 Peter 1:7.  I have no problem with 1 Peter 1:7.

(Proverbs 8:27; NASB)  "When He established the heavens, I was there, When He inscribed a circle on the face of the deep,

(Job 22:14; NASB 'Clouds are a hiding place for Him, so that He cannot see; And He walks on the vault of heaven.'

The critical line in Isaiah 40:22a in Hebrew reads (transliterated and omitting vowels): hyshb 'l hwg h'rtz, for:

(Isaiah 40:22a; NASB)  It is He who sits above the circle of the earth,

In the Septuagint (LXX), the earliest translators render the nominal and verbal forms of chûgh in every case with the Greek gýros (noun), "circle" or "ring," that they use in Isa. 40:22a, or gyróo (verb), "to make or inscribe a circle."  The Jews and Greeks have specific words for sphere that were known and used at that time.  Why weren't they used and/or what is God trying to convey to us here and elsewhere?

Not at all.  Focus on circle of the earth.  The Earth is not a circle.  If one from God's vantage point in the heavens is looking at the land of Israel, that might be considered a circle.
