Me and a friend decided to investigate the topic of religion and wars, since this is often a topic atheists bring up saying that they are inevitably linked. We found that religion wasn't the main cause of war at all, or suffering in the world and that more deaths have resulted from atheistic communism itself in the 20th century alone compared to crimes linked to religion. Mankind is the cause of war and most suffering.  There have been lots of excuses given, money ,power, religion, race etc.  The only common denominator is mankind.

In my view religion tends to exacerbate what is already there, our fears, our suspicions and superstitions etc.  The Abrahamic religions are especially dangerous in times and in Countries where it holds great power [and when education is limited].   In America, Christianity is merely an occasional nuisance; but that's because we have a secular society that forbids encroachment of religion on the lives of citizens.  In Africa, there are places where kids are abandoned and abused because they are thought to be witches.  We had people worrying about witches in America too, but that was back when people were more superstitious, religion ruled their lives and before we made our society secular.

So I agree that the real problem is mankind, but I happen to believe that religion doesn't help.

And territory. But atheists and communists blame "religion" -- the opiate of the people -- for all ills.  At the same time the atheistic communists have grabbed large chunks of territory all over the world.

There is a difference between religion and what we have in Christ.  Religion is man's futile attempt to reach God through works. Christianity is a relationship between God and His Creation through Jesus Christ.  When we come into a walk with Jesus our lives change and we become new creations.  Different dominions have different beliefs, but being a true believer in Christ is Bible centered.  Don't look for religion to change you look for your faith in God to do that.

All you have to do now is trace the cause of all wars, which will come back to a city which rules over all the kingdoms of the earth, and it is religious, it worships Satan in secret. So eventually religion is the cause of all wars.

Speaking about the city the Bible says "In her was found the blood of ...all that were slain upon the earth."

If you are interested in the evidence see link, "Revolutions, tyrants and wars."

I take it you don't own a TV set and are allergic to newspapers and  news outlets of any kind.

We ought to have a weekly award  for the most obtuse glibness produced on this forum.

You have my vote.

Virtually all violence perpetuated on our pretty blue dot at this moment is explicitly caused  by religion.

But cheer up, at least it isn't yours.

Andrew
