(Worthy News) - Violent crime is on the rise so far this year in major cities across the US compared to the number of homicides, rapes, robberies, assaults and shootings that occurred in the same cities by this point in 2015, a new report has found.

The midyear violent crime survey released Monday by the Major Cities Chiefs Association shows 307 more homicides so far in 2016, according to data from 51 law enforcement agencies from some of the largest US cities.

In addition to a large increase in homicides, major cities in the US have experienced more than 1,000 more robberies, almost 2,000 more aggravated assaults and more than 600 non-fatal shootings in 2016 compared to this time last year. The only category of violent crime not reflecting an increase when compared to last year is rape. [ Source ]

Critics shoot holes in widely cited gun study

By Maxim Lott

A much-heralded and widely cited study of 171 countries over nearly a half century purports to show more guns mean more mass shootings, but critics say the report uses bad methodology in a way that rigs the results.

The study by Adam Lankford, a criminal justice professor at the University of Alabama, has been cited by media outlets -- including The New Yorker, The Washington Post and Time magazine -- since January, when it was published in the journal Violence and Victims. But the more the study, formally published earlier this year after a draft was released in academic circles, gets cited, the more critics raise questions about what they consider dubious methodology.

“The Lankford ‘study’ is nothing more than junk science disguised as research, and never should have been published in a responsible scholarly journal,” Florida State University criminology professor Gary Kleck told FoxNews.com.

I'm sure Obama would declare that Violence has decreased over his 8yrs and that the U.S. has never been so peaceful or so racially united too. :P  maybe  I heard that  in his speech to the RNC. Exactly , Obama's tries to promote an alternative reality to the facts. Is violence increasing because of his divisive influence?

Most of us here know it is.  But what about the uneducated men and women supporting Hillary, basically an Obama third term?  Will they even acknowledge the Gang Task Force Police Officer who was gunned-down last night in San Diego during a routine traffic stop?  Fortunately, his partner also shot looks like he'll survive.  Unfortunately, the shooter also survived and is in the hospital now.  I hope they don't give him pain meds.  I know that's anti-Christian on my part but this violence against the police has to stop.  Blue Lives Matter!

If they say anything else, the admit they weren't good parents.  It's hard for some people to accept responsibility.  It's easier to blame someone else.

Obama is using the tactics the democrats have used for nearly 200 years.....    create a problem that the solution you say you need to complete to fix it that is what you want in the first place.....            They will keep storing up race problems till they get the gun control they want.

After the civil war and people of color were freed, they set thing up so that people of color could not own guns, then the KKK could control them and those that were not submissive they simply killed.  No danger of being hurt during the raids.    Same thing will happen to us if we let them have our weapons.

You have to love it when FoxNews uses the author of one of the most criticized studies in history to criticize a different study.   Maybe they subscribe to the idea that it takes a cheat to know a cheat.
