Why don't people talk more about the struggle with pornography??? I recently wrote and article on this issue and the research was staggering. http://www.leaderjourney.com/3-ways-christian-leaders-win-the-battle-against-pornography/

Check it out and let me know what you think. My biggest question is this- Why is it not talked about??? From the pulpit, in Christian leadership books, etc?

For those in the trenches with this issue, I hope my blog post helps. Any feedback would help too.

I am not going to read the article but our World struggles with sin. Each and everyone of us. We need to pray to God to help deliver us from this sin. Help us let go of those addictions. I am sure Pastors preach about sin all the time.

Welcome to Worthy :)

For the same reason they won't talk about divorce, adultery, gluttony, anger, and all the other sins that many do not want to discuss. Sin and secrets love darkness, and too much of the (American) church is more interested in "their best life now" than fighting sin. That's not a blanket statement as there are churches where the leadership and members deal with the issues. It could be that in some cases no one wants to (or may be afraid to) admit there's a problem with it - and that's why the "pet" sins need to be dragged kicking and screaming into the light of day and God's Word and prayer.

I agree walla299. It's clear we all struggle with sin. But this specific sin is so prevalent. And you don't read about it in Christian leadership books, hear about it Sunday morning, or hear about it in podcasts....

I think we need to stop tip-towing around it and talk about it. Only then will it lose it's power over so many people....

Im glad that you brought this up and I will check out the article.I struggled with that addiction since age 9 and finally broke free a couple years ago.The more and more I hear pastors and others bring this up Im glad for it being brought into the light .I do know I listen to new life live almost everyday on xm family talk and they talk about their "Every mans battle" book and workshop.Im hoping they will do one for women someday too.

well, there is still stigma attached to this type of sin

I mean, who would admit this openly?

and lets face it, while Christians are more and more willing to help those who struggles with this type of sin. admission of this openly will mostly likely lead to judgment, slander, gossip by some......

it is simply not safe to do so

I think admitting it is the only way to get out of it though.  If we won't admit it and gather others around for prayer and support then it is still the little sin that is kept in the darkness.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think there's such strength in numbers. The devil only has power when he gets us alone!

He  has as as much power as we allow him to have.  Whether we are alone or not.

Very true, but it's in his nature to separate us. He prowls around like a roaring lion. Lions like to get the stragglers that are separate from the herd.

It's hard for him to get people insnared when they have close relationships with other believers. But if we stand aloof and don't get deep with other believers, we are playing into his tactics.

I would say pray and focus on God, of course, but also have someone to be accountable to. If you are or plan to be married, work at being who God calls husbands to be. You can put internet accountability and filters on your computer as well.

“Love is the great conqueror of lust.”

― C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
