It seems to me that "button pushing" is more in the eye of the beholder than the one doing the action....
I asked what I felt was a polite request for clarification....
and I am told I am being confrontational....
(IOW, pushing buttons)....
and petty....

Beloved, It Is Well Known That Christians Will Push Buttons

But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. Galatians 6:14

And Sometimes Christians Even

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. 1 John 2:15-17

Lose Their Heads

Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. John 15:20

Over It

Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 2 Timothy 3:12

~

Be Blessed Beloved Of The KING

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them. Numbers 6:24-27

Semper Fidelis ~!

All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal. Psalms 119:160 (New International Version)

The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable.

Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you.

It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword and the Christian’s charter. Here too, Heaven is opened and the gates of Hell disclosed.

Christ is its grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently and prayerfully.  It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure.

It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, rewards the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.

One thing that I try and do is make people support their comments and accusations.  I feel if you cannot back it up, you should not say it.  But that is just me I guess

This seems reasonable @missmuffet and @Out of the Shadows. Sometimes people like to say "The Bible says" or "I read on the internet" or "I read an article" but don't really back up their statements with evidence. For a conversation to be useful it seems that backing up your statements with facts and/or passages makes sense and increases the value of the conversation. Otherwise, it's just an opinion. Which is fine. But an opinion and Biblical truth are two different things. Supporting your assertion with a link or the actual article validates your position and allows the other party to study the subject for themselves further. Don't you think?

God bless,
GE

see this here, is why I have problems with this forum. You obviously have a problem with hippie. Im not taking sides here, but you called him out-rather rudely I might add, in a public forum. When he asked where specifically, you left a very "general" answer. This kind of thing is not uplifting at all, all it shows is you taking a personal grievance, and airing it publicly, in a rather childish matter. It would have been far better to have PMed Hippie whenever he said whatever it was, that upset you, and tried to work it out man to man.

Personally, no I do not think it is pushing buttons....
There are two types of people in the world....
passive people and aggressive people....

I am one of the latter....
I am a lot like Peter that way....

There Are Two Types Of People In The World

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:36 (King James Bible)

The Born Again

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63 (King James Bible)

And The

And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 2 Timothy 2:24-25 (King James Bible)

Not

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. James 3:17 (King James Bible)

And Beloved, As For Our Beloved Peter

The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, you shall receive a crown of glory that fades not away.

Likewise, you younger, submit yourselves to the elder. Yes, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble.

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care on him; for he cares for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brothers that are in the world.

But the God of all grace, who has called us to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that you have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you. To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 5:1-11 (American King James Version)

Well, We'll Let Him Speak For Himself (And His LORD)

But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. 2 Peter 3:18 (King James Bible)

Love, Your Brother Joe

Patriot is right about the fact that without specific examples it is nothing more than meaningless name calling.  If you cannot provide specific examples then it didn't happen
