A Texas man claims that God guided him to build a Dam around his home and people laughed at him. But his house was the only one that didn't get destroyed in a flood. Seems sort of a double standards Sometimes the proof is in the pudding. That's why the Scriptures have the instruction, "Test the spirits to see if they are of God." I disagree with your belief that God is now a silent God. Have you ever had incidences in your life where you had a thought to do something, and in the doing of it turned out to be a good thing? Because God would not tell someone to do something that his clearly contrary to Scripture. Murdering someone is clearly against scripture. Since God once told a man to build a boat far from water and before it rained its not too much of a stretch that He would tell someone to build a dam around their house.
