The alleged incident took place as Israeli aircraft targeted Syrian regime artillery positions after a projectile launched from Syria landed on the Israeli side of the border in the Golan Heights in the fourth incident of cross-border fire to take place in the space of a week. The IDF said that two surface-to-air missiles were launched towards Israeli jets in response to the strikes, but that the aircraft were not near the source of fire.
