The police claim the man had a gun, the officer(s) had ordered the man to drop the gun, the man refused to drop the gun. I don't know what else the man was doing or why the cop(s) went after him to begin with. The family claims the man had a book, not a gun. This led to a a peaceful "black lives matter" protest which somehow turned violent. And the violence spread. Someone fill-in or correct where needed. Mayor Jennifer Roberts previously told CNN she will review both dashcam and body camera footage of the Scott shooting sometime Thursday. (Officer Vinson, the black officer who shot Scott, was not wearing a body camera, Putney has said.) While the public shouldn't expect to see the video, Todd Walther, spokesman for the Charlotte Fraternal Order of Police, told CNN that he viewed the footage, and it demonstrated Scott was "an obvious threat" to police officers. Many years ago in az, the cops bowed to public pressure and all but crucified a cop who had a legal valid kill of a criminal.
