I prefer the NASB Bible, for study purposes. I realize not everyone does. I would like to know which alternatives you prefer from among the following 4 choices:

  • KJV
  • NKJV
  • NIV
  • ESV

Which of the above, would you prefer to see quoted? I am not asking your for opinions or comments about versions, or reasons for your preferances. I just want to know about your preference for Bible study, from these four versions only. Thanks

If you vote (assuming I get the polling to work) your name is annonymous.

The ones I like the least are NIV and KJV, but prefer the latter to NIV.    While I like and used the old NASB, the ESV is very readable.  NKJV is my preference  because I prefer the Greek text used by it which doesn't omit verses.  The WEB also uses the majority text but is based on the ASV so I often quote the World English Bible;  I respect the ASV except for the archaic language that it shares with KJV.  The first Bible I read was the Amplified and I still love it because I learn so much from word studies.  Any literal translation is tolerated but I often ignore posts with archaic language.

I have noticed that teens that read the KJV can't answer questions for the same chapter as well as those who read the NKJV. As a minister, I back up my NKJV with the King James Version. Have a nice one.

I use the NASB (1972 only) for reading and studying, but oddly I prefer to listen to the KJV.  I voted for the ESV for I'm thinking it is the closer of the others to the NASB

I prefer the ESV or KJV both for reading and study...

As for somebody quoting the Bible in the Forums, I don't really care which version

they use, although I might point out that their version is different in other versions.
