(Worthy News) - The U.S. Navy launched Tomahawk missiles early Thursday from the Red Sea at three coastal radar sites in Yemen, destroying targets associated with missile attacks on U.S. ships this week.

The Tomahawks were launched from the destroyer USS Nitze at about 4 a.m. at three locations in territory held by Houthi rebels north of the Bab el-Mandeb strait, Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook said. President Obama authorized the strikes upon the recommendations of Defense Secretary Ashton B. Carter and Marine Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

“These limited self-defense strikes were conducted to protect our personnel, our ships, and our freedom of navigation in this important maritime passageway,” Cook said. “The United States will respond to any further threat to our ships and commercial traffic, as appropriate, and will continue to maintain our freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandeb, and elsewhere around the world.” [ Source ]

Most likely the former.  I do wonder though if the Chinese are a bit worried about their missiles, since they keep falling short and missing their targets.  Could be operator error too I guess.

I doubt we would mention it if we knew how to make them do that...   who knows?

Russia is threatening war over Syria.

Iran just launched some Naval vessels over this incident.

What should our response to Russia be?  Should we back down to maintain the peace?

Our sailors do not get much live target practice these days, seems Iranian ships would work.

The things I've learned and the way things have gone, I have no idea what the US response should be, and really, my opinion means squat. I'm just sitting in the audience going, "Hoo-boy."

Putin told us two years ago that he would not let us take Assad out of office....   it is too important for their National interests.
