Worthyness refers to the worth of something.

What makes a flawless diamond, of even one with imprections, worth so much? After all, it is just a rock, and typically not colorful. It is hard, that makes it suitable as a cutting tool, but cutting tools are not worth thousands.

Diamonds are considered desireable, and while a one karat diamond might be worth $2500, a faceted and polished diamond, might be worth 4 times that. The value of a diamond, is specified during an appraisal.

Or worthyness, our worth, is similar. God is the one who determines what we are worth. He values us highly. He considers us desiralble. He see the value that we are in the rough state, and choses certain stones to be His own possesions. He does the faceting and polishing, that turns us from a lump of clay, into an object of beauty.

If He declares us worthy, then worthy we are. It is not what we do that makes us worthy, it is how desireable we are in his sight, and His appraisal and work in us, that makes us so worthy, that He paid the highest price to purchase us.
