God is not interested in the outer appearance He is interested in the heart.

The guy in the cartoon probably looked a lot like Jesus because the Jews believed in facial hair.  But I think they had to have points on their beard or side burns or something.

A local independent Baptist church blocked our son's friend at the door from coming inside.  He had come to give his life to the Lord but his hair was too long and he was not wearing a suit and tie.  That was in the 80s.  Yes, it still happens, which is tragic.  I have heard this from old time Nazarenes as well, but not today.  Some require that women have their arms, chest and back covered as well as a dress covering their ankles, and  a bonnet or scarf to cover their hair.  We have Old German Baptists who dress like this, but most of them are loving.

I only heard this from family on Sundays...I could never look good enough for them.

Now my new church family is awesome, I just sprained my ankle so I know I could wear sweatpants and be OK, or shorts, but I get to decide in the morning. Isn't that nic??e

But why have they not showered for 3 weeks? That is what you need to look at. The whole picture before you judge.

Well if we focus on just beards and tattoos, we know from Scripture that beards were perfectly acceptable whereas tattoos were not, since they had a pagan origin and significance.

Coming back to a modicum of acceptable dress and behavior, we know that even the business world has a dress code, since some things are simply unacceptable. And everything that is reasonable within any culture will not generally be in conflict with Christian standards.
