The reader needs to understand the customs of the day regarding the death of the oldest son and since Joseph is not mentioned, most likely he already died otherwise Joseph would have been taking care of her, not John. Christ only meant that John, his beloved apostle, should take care of his mother, nothing more, nothing less. Blessings all, Karan And Jesus says nothing to John about some future Assumption of Mary. You'd think He would have mentioned it to John.

This is what happens when you have religious pseudointellectuals more interesting in creating a new revenue stream for the Roman Catholic Church than the recorded truth of God's word. I don't understand how Christians can continue to support this church.

As we draw near to the dawn of the twenty-first century, the many religions of our world are endeavoring vigorously to achieve a false unity at the expense of the Bible's clear teachings. Much of this effort is being implemented through the employment of counterfeit or vague terminology. Words that are given different meanings sound like the truth but in reality are "doctrines of devils", or "doctrines that demons teach." 1 Timothy 4:1, Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

I have heard Roman Catholics say that the ark mentioned in Revelation 11:19 was Mary; to them I ask if that was Mary then why didn't John just come out and SAY it.
