My born-again Christian friend and I got into a disagreement about the election results.  She is a lifelong Democrat.  To me, the two do not go hand-in-hand, and I cannot wrap my mind around it.  I really want to know what others think?  Am I wrong?

Being a democrat or republican isnt tied to belief in Christ. Even if it was, who among us is perfect? We all have ways we can improve as Christians. I know believers who were democrats for years. They are not any less brothers or sisters in Christ ... just misguided in whom they vote for lol.

Can a born-again Christian be a democrat?

It is more like

Can they be?  Or  Should they be?

As individuals in the USA we each have the right to vote Republican, Democrat or other party of our choice.  It does not matter if we are or are not a born again Christian for it is simply our right to choose who we vote for.

There are many things I personally cannot agree with being a Christian in the democratic party to where I can't vote democratic.

I agree OC,

Why would anyone vote for funding planned PARENTHOOD? Partial birth murderous abortions, open borders and let in illegals without proper procedure etc?

And then to say they are a born again Christian? I don't know how they think they can justify it but they will have to answer to God.

I couldn't do it.

Can A Born-Again Believer Be A Democrat???

That should not be the ultimate question. The most important question is "What is in their heart?". That is what is most important to God.

I guess the question should be, "Why would a born-again Christian choose to align themselves with the Democrat party?"  I know that some do, but to me, things are mostly black and white, right or wrong.  I think the liberal media may have a lot to do with the far left-leaning news they hear much of the time or maybe it is family tradition when there were such things as conservative democrats, but those are long gone.  I would love to hear from Christians who vote for the Democrats.  I really want to understand their paradigm.

No, you are not wrong at all. The Democrats have become more and more socialistic, ultra-liberal, and undemocratic, and stand for many political and social positions which are not Christian. The promotion of abortion, Planned Parenthood, same-sex marriage, transgender bathrooms, illegal immigration, funding and supporting terrorists, open borders, transfer of jobs to foreign countries are either plainly evil or detrimental to genuine citizens.

Hello Dabby26,  it is a good thing that your friend is open to discussion at all.  Most Democrats disengage immediately at any mention of the abortion issue.  You are in a good position to educate her on facts.  Keep reminding her that it makes no difference how may millions of folks are ok with abortion, God not is not ok with it.  The topic of abortion alone should be enough to have her leave that party very fast.  God Bless You
