Over the years I found that God's Word / Truth is far more grounded than most of us realize.

We tend toward the ethereal or the superstitious which makes us completely vulnerable to those who exploit us.

The Gospel will always have enemies and detractors... but it is a good deal... the greatest bargain in fact...

How is it then that to the world we appear like hypocrites always beating ourselves and one another with our misunderstanding of portions of scripture or out and out traditions of men...

Most skeptics would never dream of asking "Where do I sign up?"

So...

What in your view, studies, tradition, etc. is prophecy?

1Co 14:3  ESV On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.  1Co 14:4  The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church.

Wuest (Expanded Translation): But he who imparts divine revelations to men is speaking with the result of upbuilding the Christian life, and exhortation, and consolation. The one who utters words in a tongue builds himself up in his Christian life. But he who imparts divine revelations to others builds up the local assembly.

Prophecy is profession (to profess) what God has said (which is sometimes about the future, sometimes about the present, sometimes about the past).

Prophecy / profess / prophet / professor you get the gist.

All the mystique and glamour we have attached to the simple act and actor result from our superstitions.

It is not about the professor of God's profession or even the profession itself but the God who professes through his professors to his professees.
