Well, perhaps my question was too simple. Where does the authority to be a Sanhedrin come from. Can you and I be Jewish Rabbis, and declare ourselves to be the Sanhedrin, and anounce plans to rebuild the temple? If we did, does that count toward anything, and would it be any different to the claims of others to the position?

Originally it goes back to the appointment of elders in Israel at the time of Moses. During the time of Christ, it was the Jewish rabbis and other religious leaders who appointed the Sanhedrin. Today, again, it is Jewish rabbis who have reconstituted the Sanhedrin.  But you and I would be rejected out of hand.

Good, I do not want the job. I was not even able to get elected U.S. dictator in 2012, but I think America might have realized that mistake now!

And that's not good. All Bible prophecy focus primarily on Jerusalem and Israel. We know that there will be a third Temple in Israel when a JEWISH ANTICHRIST takes control.
