Guest shiloh357
Yes, I heard that there were, at one point, 70 mile an hour winds. It was moving too fast for crews to fight and by the time people could be warned, the fire was on top of them. Some had just a couple of minutes to grab their kids and run to the car to flee. Reminds me of the wild fires up in Ft. McMurray in Alberta Canada. People had a similar experience there. But it is a tender box down there in TN and GA and AL, due to the drought conditions. The terrain there makes fighting the fire on the ground almost impossible.

Was this arson as well? last I read about two hours ago was that they didn't know what started the original fire, but several secondary fires started over downed power lines in all the fall leaves. They had wind gusts up to 80 miles an hour.

OK, here are some articles on that: http://www.courier-journal.com/story/news/local/science/environment/2016/11/12/arson-responsible-150-wildfires-kentucky/93730134/ http://www.wrcbtv.com/story/33688537/arrest-made-in-tennessee-wildfires http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/11/22/wildfires-continue-spread-across-southeast-as-arson-probes-launched.html
