I think the dogs were "pig hunting". The roo did kick out with its legs at the dog - lucky the dog jumped back. For sure, the roo would've floored that guy if it got serious. Red male roos have muscles upon muscles - they are not to be messed with - however, this particular roo wasn't a big red....just big!!!

The kangaroo looked surprised when the man led with his right to its face. He let the dog go which he had in a headlock and just stood there until the man started walking away. This is evidently common in Australia.

RE: Saved By One Grace, no this isn't a common occurance in Australia. Not many people would "take on" a kangaroo - the guy was protecting his dog. I was repeating what I heard on TV which said it was common for kangaroos to go after dogs, not guys/gals punching kangaroos. This may be a mistake, but that's what the news reader on Fox News said. That was a big dog too...I don't think the guy was wrong to punch the Kangaroo, I'd rather do that then get kicked by one. I was surprised the kangaroo didn't go after the guy. I didn't hear any sound but I bet the dog was yelping loud and that's why the guy ran over to protect his dog.
