(Worthy News) - The UN General Assembly adopted six resolutions on the situation of the Palestinians on Wednesday, including a demand for Israel to withdraw from the Golan Heights.

The resolution calls for peace talks between Syria and Israel and Lebanon and Israel to be restarted immediately, calls for the Israeli withdrawal from the Golan Heights, and determines that Israel being in the Golan Heights and Israel’s de-facto annexation of the Golan Heights represents a key stumbling block to regional peace.

It was passed in the UN General assembly by a vote of 103 for, 6 against (Canada, Federated States of Micronesia, Israel, Marshall Islands, Palau, and the United States), and 56 abstentions.

The resolution is one of six anti-Israel resolutions passed Wednesday, another being on the status of Jerusalem (A/71/L.22). In it, the UN expressed “its determination that any actions taken by Israel, the occupying Power, to impose its laws, jurisdiction and administration on the Holy City of Jerusalem are illegal and therefore null and void and have no validity whatsoever”. This, at a time when ISIS has been inside the Golan Heights, is ludicrous and just goes to show the anti-Semitism in the UN.

The funny thing is the resolutions were all about "Palestinian Day" or whatever it's called.

How does giving the Golan Heights back to Syria help the Palestinians?

It was won in '67, I believe (off the top of my head).  Prior to that it had been a high ground from which assaults had been launched against Israel.  So as Teditis said, it is strategically necessary to hold that ground.  They usually also demand to relinquish the part of Jerusalem that had been held by the muslims that included the Rock of the Dome.  This was also taken in '67.

The Muslims believe that any land they occupy is theirs for eternity, including in the US.  In fact, most muslims interviewed on the street in NYC stated they thought we should have shariah  law in the USA.  Only a couple mentioned the US Constitutional law.  Pretty scary.

The UN can just go take a hike.  The Golan Heights were won by Israel in a defensive war.  By international law, when you win a war, any land you take in defense of your nation becomes the property of the victor.  In this case, Israel took that land in a defensive war they won.  It is Israel's land.

It was the 1973 Yom Kippur War

The UN can stick it where the sun don't shine!
