Sexual sin is selfish.  Selfishness is self destructive.  You are not doing what is best for the other person in sexual sin.  You are indulging your own impulses and gratification at the expense of others.  It destroys families.  It destroys the preciousness it holds as an expression of giving love in a marriage.  Fidelity represents God's relationship with His chosen people.  Infidelity represents abandoning God.

Why would my own personal thoughts and my own personal desires be considered to be wrong if I think and believe that they are good?  Why are my 'goods' considered to be 'wrongs'?

If ancient people who lived within a society of no schools and no STD'S were fine with living with a no 'set' standard of thinking and if sex came with no threats of contracting an STD, why is my thought of being such as them, free minded and free spirited, 'wrong'?

We are living within a schooled and STD world today.  Those personal thoughts and feelings, today, may be just as not wrong as it were then, but there will be lots of friction within your life living with those 'ways' in today's times which have schools of thought and schools of medicine.

Perhaps the question could and should be turned around to: Why  is there any suggestion that  evil is good, and good is evil?

2 Timothy 3

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith. But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men.10 You, however, have followed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, 11 my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra—which persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me.12 Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom[a] you learned it 15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,17 that the man of God[b] may be complete, equipped for every good work.

"If ancient people who lived within a society of no schools and no STD'S were fine with living with a no 'set' standard of thinking and if sex came with no threats of contracting an STD, why is my thought of being such as them, free minded and free spirited, 'wrong'? " - Excerpted from opening post by Delade3

And just what ancient peoples lived with no set standards and survived untouched  by the wrath  of God? I suggest that there are none! God's wrath upon those peoples set up in the premise of being free minded as  examples of freedom from standards, were all crushed by God.

God's word, the Bible, is filled with  the histories  of individuals and peoples that  were cast aside, destroyed, or made to suffer pretty harshly, for their free spiritedness. Plus there is suggestion that  it has been so from before the begining of this earth itself, and will be for eternity to come into times after time. It has always been and always will be.

The Bible is also  parallel in it's telling of the grace and mercy of God upon repentant individuals and nations, as it is in the telling of the destruction of the fallen from grace "free spirited".   The just nature of God, His righteousness, and patience, is unfolded throughout his scripture for any that willl read, and repent,  to hear - see - and know. Each of us may come to see that we are not free, but instead that in Christ Jesus, God's own are willingly  enslaved to Him. The word bond-servant is the proper description.

Life and it's purpose is bigger than concern for STD's. Bigger than any pleasing of self, any oppression or debauchery of others, and is bigger still than all the world has to offer as rebellion against the will of God for His creation. Life's purpose is to Glorify God.

Holy Holy Holy is the Lamb of God. May we all come to rejoice in His Glory, be free of the call to  the rebellious free-mindeness, and instead to become His bond-servants for eternity to come.

May God bless each of us with  awareness of His sovereignty over our existence, over all things of men and nations over of all creation. May each be aware, repent of our old nature, and be  saved to follow the voice of the Lamb  of God.
