Pepernoten (Dutch recipe

  1. Pepernoten
  2. 1/3 Cup Butter
    1/3 Cup Brown Sugar
    1 Tablespoon Milk...
    1 Tablespoon Keukenstroop (possibly Molasses would be good substitute)
    Salt
    2/3 Cup All-Purpose Flour
    2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
    2-3 Teaspoons Speculaas Spices
  3. Preheat oven to 300-325 F
    Mix butter with brown sugar
    Add Milk, Molasses and salt
    While beating add flour, baking powder and spices
    Knead together, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 1 hour but preferably a few hours
    Roll small balls from the dough, put on greased cookie sheet and flatten slightly
    Bake for about 13 minutes until crisp and baked through

That sounds good. Some of the ingredients look foreign to me. I make a really good potato soup. I understand that is Dutch.

I just made pepernoten,everybody here loves them:)

They so nicely spiced and fun to eat!

I never heard of potato soup in Holland but it sounds good! :)

Cool, thanks for sharing.  I'm surprised it doesn't call for buttermilk though, seems the Dutch put buttermilk in everything.
