I was inspired to start a new thread only because I do find interest in the topic.   Often times there will be certain segments of people that will say the Earth is flat. I don't ascribe to this thinking but would like to hear from those that think this is a possibility.  I do have something to ask though.  When looking at the sun and the moon, we see sphere shaped objects.  Why would Earth be different?  Is it also your belief that the sun and moon revolve around the Earth.  I have also heard this with those that believe in a flat earth.  Admins, I'm unsure if this post will be moved because it is slightly controversial.  But then again it would have been controversial to say the earth was a sphere at one point.  So maybe this is just a general discussion now...LOL

I always thought that the 'flat earth society' was a joke.  Have never met anyone who actually thinks that to be ture.

There are a few....not well grounded in science or scripture, or at least old testament scripture. Because it says in Isaiah:

Isaiah 40:22

He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth,
and its people are like grasshoppers.
He stretches out the heavens like a canopy,
and spreads them out like a tent to live in.

The cube reference, as in the "corners of the earth" references you mention, when in context are more of a metaphor, I think is the term I'm looking for, and not literally saying the earth has corners.

I don't understand how any person with even a HS education can think the earth is flat. However, I watched some You Tube videos of real professors speaking. They said some things I consider scary because they're professors. When I was in school I was taught it's not logically possible to prove something is not true. It's only possible to prove a thing is true. But this professor said the opposite. Here's an example and I'm going to make it outrageous to prove my point. First assume I am well known and respected biologist. I tell you that there are some dogs that have 5 legs and 3 eyes. You ask me how I know and I say because I saw over 100 of them in an unexplored area of the Amazon. Should you believe me? You say no. So I say well prove I'm wrong. You can't prove I'm wrong that's logically impossible. Scientifically speaking, it's also up to me to prove I'm right. The burden of proof is on me because I'm advancing a theory that goes against everything we know. The burden of proof should always be on the man making the new claim. I was taught this in collage some 35 yrs ago. But somehow this fact has changed. Actually it's changed because the evolutionists want to believe evolution is a fact without real proof. So they twisted logic to make it sound like it's possible to disprove a thing. So go ahead, disprove my 5 legged dog with the 3 eyes.

Too many reputable people have flown around the earth in planes as well as seen the earth from in orbit. It's not like only a few have done this, hundreds or thousands of people have done it. Yeah, the earth is kinda round, more like an egg shape. But not flat.

Definite possibility, I had not thought of it that way before, it's an interesting perspective which I will have to look at further. Either way, its not saying the earth is literally flat, or a cube however.

I agree with you. When growing up there was this show called wide wide world of sports which used the metafor "from the 4 corners of the earth".
