Shalom=  When you enter a house,  speak to those there SHALOM - "Freedom from sin, and from all the consequences of sin"  and if they receive you your shalom will remain there,  and if they refuse to receive you your shalom will depart with you.

That makes sense in this context.

Quote

Y'SHUA is PEACE to those who abide in PEACE , those who receive HIM. ...

Thank-you for your words.

Shalom primarily signifies wholeness (according to Vine's). From Christ's perspective it would mean (1) peace with God, therefore (2) the peace of God. It can mean a harmonious relationship between men and men, or between men and God, therefore rest and contentment.

I'm not familiar with Vine's.

In any event, the explanation/meaning I presented had struck a cord with me because it made the word much stronger to me, that it wasn't just a state of being or feeling, but a power - a power that is needed in this broken and chaotic world.
