WASHINGTON — The F.B.I. arrested the wife of the man who carried out a deadly terrorist attack in Orlando, Fla., and charged her with obstructing the investigation of the mass shooting, law enforcement officials said Monday.

Noor Salman, whose husband, Omar Mateen, killed 49 people and wounded dozens in an Orlando nightclub that was popular with gays, was also charged with aiding and abetting by providing material support, the officials said.   MSN full article

I'm surprised it took this long to arrest her. She drove the  man to the nightclub. And he had handguns and a long gun on his person at the time. And she initially claimed to police that she had no idea what he was planning?

Regarding why it took so long, the FBI may have been covertly surveilling the wife ever since the attack, hoping that she would make contact with any other people who may have been involved with providing material support or incitement for the attack. But when she contacted nobody suspicious, they could have now brought her in to offer her a plea deal, by which a threatened, very-severe sentence (like 30-40 years) will be reduced if she gives up the names of any others involved in the attack in any way, especially fellow Florida mosque members, leaders, etc., whom the FBI could then strictly surveil.
