Guest
Every so often I am led to buy bibles and I happened to notice that in the past it was let's say six all the same or just one ,but this last time it was certain ones black nkjv, large print and a maroon nkjv and a maroon kjv giant print and that was over two months back Usually they stay on a shelf until it's time and I had sort of forgot about them but a few minutes ago I was reminded and know who is receiving the black nkjv and wondered if anyone else does this? Lol! Yes, by the case if there's a good sale. I buy many duplicate Bibles of my favorites because they get given away. I always keep Bibles in my truck and Jeep to be given away when the opportunity arises. My shelves are filled with Bibles as a woman's closet with a shoe fetish. Of course they will be banned during the tribulation but they can be given secretly to those who come to Christ during that time.

No, I do not buy Bibles to give away. Some here do help one of our missionaries reach the Greek community by helping to purchase the officially approved Greek Language Bible, as approved by the government of Greece. - there is reason for that with which I will not bore y'all. I will share again that it was the Gideon Bible at the hotel that I once had an ownership interest in that was my first adult bible reading instrument. I started with Job 12. Had 150 of them to choose from. I read out of a few as I worked on the rooms as an atheist. Guess my point to share is that while I personally think people value and have more care for that which they have to put skin in the game to obtain (purchase), I sure benefited from the generosity of others that had contributed to the work of the Gideons. Perhaps I too should consider having some Bibles around to share and give! Good thought thanks. I can agree that some people put more value and care in items they purchase at times I'm around folks who have nothing and don't have an income or it's very limited. They may pitch a tent along the river until they are run off or live in a car for example For now I am living in a rural area and your would need to drive at minimum 45-50 miles to purchase a bible in a store if they had the money, some have no transportation or lost their drivers license. I shop a lot online but I meet people who don't have a credit card. the last bible I handed out went to someone on disability who may have been able to afford a bible but felt they needed a few cans of beer to survive the day to escape life. I think it is a terrific thing to be doing. I think I should also be better prepared to meet someone's need in that manner. Any particular Bible version seem to work best for such use? ??? Think it matters much? I'm kinda wondering about trying to go with a well bound Bible, something that in of itself might seem to the recipient to be worth protecting. ( I suspect I'm over thinking it )
Guest
THe best answer I can give is to pray about it. things at times for me run in cycles I may hit a spell when I am led to hand out many in a few months then one in the next year.i usually have extras around and if I will need others they will be pre bought. As far as what I have gave others it's usually a Kjv or nkjv. and they may be only $20 or can be more I wait and do as I feel led. ITs sort of like when you get someone food with one it's a meals worth and another's is enough for the month. God bless ya!

Decades ago, way back before I was born again, I used to have cases and cases of Bibles for our sales staff to give as rewards in exchange for leads that resulted in sales. Had "Protestant", "Catholic", and "Children's", Bibles for the individuals to select.. Anyway that system of lead generation worked quite well. The sales people paid a portion of the cost and the individuals phoned their lead references too to get permission to use their address and names. Some enthusiastic consumers actually would work at it for the sake of getting more Bibles to in turn give way themselves. Crass commercialism, but come to think of it we got an awful lot of Bibles distributed in the local community. Had many a family come back in and ask for more, they would come in with more leads after telling friends and family of their purchase of our services and products, each time adding their own voice of recommendation to the prospect they shared with us. Many a person made appointments, bought product in hope of also getting a Bible. Actually, they would use the opportunity to get a free Bible as an excuse for finally sitting down and doing their own memorial estate planning. I kept (And paid for personally) one Catholic Bible that had been returned because the hard bound cover was upside down. Made the person reading it look odd if they held it up. It has disappeared from my collection. I used to reference it for the few differences between Roman Catholic and other editions. Kind of disappointed in it's loss. My own first purchased Bible as a Born Again Christian was and is the Criswell KJV study Bible. And yes it is all marked up, the cover taped on many times over. Had to mark our Bibles or we weren't learn'n ya know. I had marks coded with different colored markers and all. Handing out Bibles, hmm, is best today, or maybe sharing a list of Apps? A paper tract of Bible apps??? See what happens at three AM? With the advent of big screens at church, smart boards in classrooms and laptops with projectors, few of us carry our personal Bibles into services anymore. Used to be there was a constant buzzing of pages turning as pastors and teachers spoke, and the scribbling of notes on paper. Now it is a flash of blue screens of tablets and cell phones, with the tap tap tap of thumbs on screen keyboards. And if one looks up there is just a bluish cloud of screens glowing.
