But considering how close this is to D.C., it's a bit unnerving.

Out of 100, where 100 is the safest city, DC rates 3.

But the location is the outer edge of NW DC, the wealthier part of town. The "murder capitol" aspect is SE DC.

How would they otherwise not realize that that area would be investigated at the very least by secret service prior to the inauguration? I agree D.C is dangerous. And all of it may be presumed so because the criminal element ventures forth into the wealthy area's there. When we went to visit friends I brought a gun for personal protection. This was back when it was illegal to have a firearm in D.C. Imagine that. Murder central even then and it was illegal to have a firearm. Meanwhile, criminals that have no respect for the law used illegal guns to make murder an issue of concern for everyone. Gun control laws. It is about controlling the law abiding. Not the criminals that prey upon the unarmed.

If it's on the border of the wealthy part of town, they man have stole the weapons and left them there until they could find a buyer. It's common to do that so you don't get caught with stolen stuff like guns at home..... that would carry a good sized jail time there.

There was water in the canal in the picture in the article. In any event, you could google earth Fletcher’s Cove and see the area for yourself in terms of what the neighborhood is like. If you notice, it isn't that far from The Mall. Since the Inauguration was approaching, my first thought was concern about that.
