Yep,choices......

Please ... "without excuse" for not seeing God in all of creation, etc.

lessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved

he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him

… But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.

Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown,

brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.” (James 1:12-16)

Many Christians today like to insist that this “death” is merely physical.

So, they are saying that Jesus is going around killing believers who fail the James test.

Notice that those who love Jesus endure the temptation to sin, and are thus “approved”

To sin is not in the text

G3986   (Word Study)

πειρασμός

peirasmós; gen. peirasmoú, masc. noun from peirázō (G3985), to make trial of, try, tempt. Trial, temptation, a putting to the test, spoken of persons only. When God is the agent, peirasmós is for the purpose of proving someone, never for the purpose of causing him to fall. If it is the devil who tempts, then it is for the purpose of causing one to fall.

(I) Generally, trial of one's character (1Pe 4:12, "to try [or prove] you"). By implication, trial of one's virtue, temptation, solicitation to sin, especially from Satan (Luk 4:13; 1Ti 6:9).

(II) Trial, temptation. (A) A state of trial in which God brings His people through adversity and affliction in order to encourage and prove their faith and confidence in Him (Mat 6:13; Mat 26:41; Mar 14:38; Luk 8:13; Luk 11:4, "bring us not into a state of trial" [a.t.], lay not trials upon us; Luk 22:40, Luk 22:46; 1Co 10:13; Jas 1:2, Jas 1:12; 1Pe 1:6; 2Pe 2:9; Sept.: Deu 7:19; Deu 29:3). Hence used metonymically for adversity, affliction, sorrow (Luk 22:28; Act 20:19; Gal 4:14; Rev 3:10).

God proves our faith, establishes us and tests us through trials.  These are meant for good.   Satan tempts to sin.  In the verses you quoted James is speaking enduring the adversities of life that are meant to confirm our faith, prove us to be faithful, establish us and draw us closer to God, or else will prove us to be unstable and we fall away from God or even from church.  Satan tempts to sin but we are draws away by our own lusts.  God tempts no man.  It is our faith that God considers precious and that glorifies Him.

Jas 1:2  AMP  Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations.  Jas 1:3  Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience. Jas 1:4  But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing.

Jas 1:12  Blessed (happy, to be envied) is the man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation, for when he has stood the test and been approved, he will receive [the victor's] crown of life which God has promised to those who love Him.  Jas 1:13  Let no one say when he is tempted, I am tempted from God; for God is incapable of being tempted by [what is] evil and He Himself tempts no one.  Jas 1:14  But every person is tempted when he is drawn away, enticed and baited by his own evil desire (lust, passions).

1Pe 1:3  Praised (honored, blessed) be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah)! By His boundless mercy we have been born again to an ever-living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 1Pe 1:4  [Born anew] into an inheritance which is beyond the reach of change and decay [imperishable], unsullied and unfading, reserved in heaven for you, 1Pe 1:5  Who are being guarded (garrisoned) by God's power through [your] faith [till you fully inherit that final] salvation that is ready to be revealed [for you] in the last time. 1Pe 1:6  [You should] be exceedingly glad on this account, though now for a little while you may be distressed by trials and suffer temptations, 1Pe 1:7  So that [the genuineness] of your faith may be tested, [your faith] which is infinitely more precious than the perishable gold which is tested and purified by fire. [This proving of your faith is intended] to redound to [your] praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) is revealed.

Consider the dilemma . If there is free will then there is no predestination, predeterminism, as described in scripture. If there is predestination, predeterminism as described in scripture, then there can be no free will.

Pre-Determinism
Determinism is the philosophical idea that every event or state of affairs, including every human decision and action, is the inevitable and necessary consequence of antecedent states of affairs.
Pre-determinism implies that all the information in the universe today was implicit in the earliest moments of the universe. It is information conserving. It is consistent with the theological idea of God's foreknowledge. Source-More Reading

Freedom of human action requires the randomness of absolute chance to break the causal chain of determinism, yet the conscious knowledge that we are adequately determined to be responsible for our choices, Source-More Reading

It’s all about free-will choices …

to believe God, to believe His warnings, and to obey Him … or not.

Just like it all started in the Garden of Eden and continued through the ages.

Adam and Eve were given a fabulous life in the Garden.

Their lives were filled with great delight and promise for all of eternity.

Their part was just simply to obey God.

Their love and appreciation for God and their obedience were tested.

Satan, the tempter, was the medium for this.

He said don’t believe God and obey Him for “You will not surely die.”

He deceived them into choosing to follow their wishes over God’s wishes.

The result of their sin was death … physical and spiritual.

Born-again believers are given God’s free gift of grace.

Their lives are filled with great delight and promise for all of eternity.

Ah, you say, and they can do whatever they please!

But, no … their part is simply to obey God.

Their love and appreciation for God and their obedience will be tested.

Satan, the tempter, is the medium for this.

He says don’t believe God and obey Him for “You will not surely die.”

He deceives many into choosing to follow their wishes over God’s wishes.

The result of their sin is death … physical and spiritual.

It’s Adam and Eve all over again every day for us!

It’s all about free-will choices to believe and obey God, or not.

“Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved,

he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him

But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.

Notice that those who love Jesus endure the temptation to sin, and are thus “approved”.

(Jesus says 4 times in John 14 that those who love Him will obey His commandments.)

And those who fail to overcome the temptation to sin are faced with eternal death.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God,

that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God,

which is your reasonable service.” (Romans 12:1)

“you are that one’s slaves whom you obey,

whether (slaves) of sin leading to death,

or (slaves) of obedience leading to righteousness …

so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.” (Romans 6:16-19)

Have you ever noticed anything about The Garden of Eden and the creation of man?  How have you come to understand them in relation to one another?

Do you believe that God created Adam and Eve in the Garden?  Do you believe that the Garden was already there when God created Adam?  Genesis 2:7-8  "7And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed."

God created man then God planted a garden eastward in Eden.   And then God put the man in the Garden.

Then God creates the 'woman'..    Genesis 2:21 "And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;"   -after God creates another [set] of animals ? Genesis 2:19  " And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof."
