UK Prime Minister Theresa May has pledged a $49 million (GBP$30 million) aid package to protect refugees.

Ms May made the announcement at the European Union council summit in Malta, the Sun reports.

The aid will be aimed at helping refugees across Greece, the Balkans, Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and Sudan, who will be encouraged to settle outside Europe.

“Global Britain is stepping up its support for the most vulnerable refugees who are at risk and need our help,” Priti Patel, International Development Secretary, said.

The funds will also be used to assist countries in Asia and Latin America that have taken on refugees.

The Prime Minister had also set up a protection fund aimed at helping women and girls who are at risk of trafficking.

Regarding "Global Britain", that means that it wants to remain a global trading and military power, like during the British Empire, but without having to accept immigrants under the rules of a borderless EU. (This was the main reason for the sovereign British People voting for Brexit.) ----- Britain, rightly, wants to be able to call its own shots, and not be subject to any higher mortal-human power, including the U.N., in which Britain retains its veto power in the U.N. Security Council. Britain is one on only 5 nations in the entire world to retain this veto power (besides the United States, China, Russia, and France). Germany and Japan, despite their huge economic power, larger than Britain's, have for some reason not been allowed to break into the U.N. Security Council as permanent members with veto powers. Also, Britain is a nuclear power with nuclear-missile submarines which can move and strike globally. (That is, if they can get their aging nuclear missiles to work properly).

She's a globalist at heart, and at any other time she would be backing the globalists.  Nigel Farage should be in her place, but he copped out.  This "aid" is more nonsense, since the history of foreign aid is that it never reaches the needy.

Why not pledge those funds to support a program to keep Arab refugees in or near their homeland? Train the people to fight for their own country rather than flee and relocate and become minorities in other peoples?

Yes that seems more like a commonsense plan. I think Trump has suggested similar & something about creating safe zones in their homelands.

He has done .

We are not able to properly screen refugees who wish to gain entry into the U.S.. I believe that in itself should guarantee no refugees be allowed to enter. It is common sense to protect the homeland and our citizens first. Especially when the very reason these people in Syria are seeking refuge is because there are elements in their own country that are evil and seek to kill and destroy that country.

How then is it wise to import , transport, people from that place? When it is not impossible to imagine the destructive spirit there shall come along for the ride.
