So, you are saying that our military is not a match for the cartels?

No, what I saying is that an ongoing war at the border is not conducive to the well-being of lawful citizens.  That is what would happen if there is no physical wall.

However after the wall is built, posting soldiers along the border wall would definitely be a good idea, since the issue is national security.  This changes the whole concept from *civil policing* to *military protection* of the border, and changes the dynamics.

Having the military on the border is legal under our system; I sure hope we don't have to do that though.  But, for too many years, our government has allowed Mexico, and others, freedom to do as they please and now the Mexicans feel entitled to come here.  Need to change their mindset.

I see your point.

Having military on the border would be a whole lot cheaper than building a wall. And the money would not be coming out of our pocket for building that wall.

The money for the wall has already been set aside.  We don't necessarily have to raise that much money for building it.   It's already there and has been for some time, but none of the previous administrations had the political will to build it.  We already spend Billions on border security, so why not make that money actually mean something now?

We will need some kind of military force along the wall.  That's what Israel has to do with their security fence along the west bank.   It is well secured due to radar surveillance and military patrols.   A mosquito doesn't get through without them noticing.  And it has prevented a lot of terrorism and crime, too.  Violence and infiltration from the West Bank decreased by 70% in the first year or so, alone.

We should not continue to promote this misconception.  The money will be coming from Mexican exports to the USA. Mexico will pay for the that wall one way or another.

You know, if you tax something being imported into this country, the people in this country end up paying the tax.  If company A is taxed extra to bring in things from Mexico, then that cost will be passed on to the consumer.   The company/country shipping them is not absorbing the cost, we the people are.

This is basic Econ 101.

A perfect reason why we need to start building the products we need here.  Basic common sense 101.
