The Return of Sexual Morality

You may not want the government telling you what you can't watch but that may be the only way out of this mess. And remember this mess has criminal implications. To make porn causes more crime than you may know. It has to be stopped.

And it all starts by people talking about. That's why I made this thread. It's like trying to help an addict. You can't help him if you won't say the words, addiction Heroin Cocaine etc.

And if we get sexual morality back in into our society we won't have such an overwhelming problem with abortions and orphans.

It's going to take change on both legal and spiritual fronts.   Pornography is criminal by nature.  And it is not protected under the constitution.  There is a lot of stuff like this and child porn and prostitution that need to purged from our culture.  And it is going to also take a return to biblical values in this nation.

In some ways, there have been worse times in the past than today. In Corinth during the time Paul established a Church there, feminists often protested topless in the streets.

In Judaism, women were divorced (put away) for the chintziest of reasons (unlike today): with only the clothes on their backs.

Etc.

But in some very serious ways, we live in a worse time with regard to lust in all the access we have to it in the privacy of our own homes on TV, computer, or devices... Everything is on the verge or the over exaggerated (skimpy means all but the plumbing showing today, when before it was a little bit of thigh or midriff or cleavage)...

And all that the children are exposed to today...

Oy, what we all are going to be held accountable for... for commission or omission (tolerating  or burying our heads in the sand)...

But again... God is not trying to change the world but to save as many as will be saved through it.

Ours is but to police ourselves in this regard (if only for our own sakes and the sakes of our spouses)...

Be blessed.

JohnD, thank you for being open and honest. Maybe nothing can be done about this problem but so long as I'm alive I have to try. If I don't then I don't know why God keeps me alive.

I actually consider this problem to stem from my generation. It was my age bracket that thought free sex was a great idea. But we were young, young and dumb. I remember when the VCR was invented and suddenly I could rent porno films. Since I was single I thought it was a good thing. It wasn't and it does seem like there's no hope but we can't accept that. As Christians we have to try and make there be hope. Up until 5 yrs ago I was driving a Taxi and on Sat nights I used to get to speak to young people. They need our help. They need to hear there is hope. They are very intelligent, a lot smarter than I was at their age. I can't work anymore so I can't speak to them anymore. But I can still reach people via the Internet which is what I'm doing.

People have to made to think about this. Things don't have to be as bad as they are. I don't expect a perfect world but I think things can get better than they are now.

Nobody is forced to watch porn or to access it via the internet, those are choices they make. I am an adult and I do not need the government to make choices for me, and as a Libertarian I am opposed to any overreach by the government.  Who is going to get to decide what is acceptable for you or for me?   If children are accessing it via the web then it is a failure of the parents to protect their children.  I have no children in my household anymore but I still have an excellent filter on my computer that allows me, the individual, to set up what I want blocked and what I do not want blocked.   While i do not desire to watch porn, if an adult wishes to that is their right and it is not my place or your place to tell them they cannot.

Your reply is typical of the secular world and the acceptance of moral decadence as  the new norm.  But a believer does not accept this and would heed the warnings of scripture to flee sexual immortality and preach it.

I am not sure what I have accepted, but whatever makes you happy.   If you need the government to ban something so you will not partake of it, then you are not fleeing from it.  I do not need the government to keep me from porn, I choose to flee from it all on my own accord.  And every single adult should be afforded the same choice.

Sexual immorality is not going to change while Satan is roaming our world and sin is rampant. Not on the earth as we know it now. We know in our own hearts where we stand as far as values and morals are concerned. We know what the Bible has to say about morals and values. It is a choice between each and every individual.

As much as I detest porn, I do not want this government or any other deciding what is acceptable or not for me to view/read.  This leads to a very bad place very quickly.

We had some censorship in the 50s and prior, and it did not lead to a bad place.  We have more censorship now than we did then, but it is by the political leftist media.

My position as a born again Christian and my heart will tell me where I stand in the world of porn.

That depends on your point of view.  And if you think that today it is all from the "leftist" then we have nothing left to talk about.   This should not be a political issue

Which is why we do not need the government to save us from ourselves.
