You know that is a good point. I mean if I wanted to I could do the same thing. I could find a photo of poverty in one of our American cities and say something like "capitalism this is what you get". A socialist state is a country who's constitution delineates socialist policy and principles. Social programs such as those you've listed are not examples of America being socialist. If one looks at our Constitution on its face, I'm not sure you'll see an economic philosophy contained therein. To me, the Constitution mostly spells out the RIGHTS of the individual vs. the FUNCTIONS of the government. And the goalposts on that have been continually moving (away from individual rights and toward government control) ever since the ink was dry on the document. Most people - if asked - would say we're a capitalist nation. Perhaps we have some elements of capitalism, but we're not really that, either. We have socialistic elements, as well. (And in my opinion that is the direction we are going - not toward capitalism.) But as I said in an earlier post, socialism is seen as compassionate - our young people are taught that throughout their what I call 'indoctrination' (vs. 'education') In its simplest and most basic terms - every "problem" has a government "solution". The brick wall that philosophy leads to will come - eventually. Then what? The only question in my mind is - will we arrive at that brick wall in a year? Five years? Ten? Bernie Sanders was very popular before he as the last opposing Hillary contradicted his spirit to persevere and quit the race. I even saw inspirers as I call them not protesters, that rallied in small pockets around the country but mostly in the typical blue state holding signs begging Bernie to return to the race. They were demonstrating how effective the ultra-left dialog was progressing. And that after one of the seeds appeared as an occupation group in our economic centers. People loved them for camping out like the rainbow tribe calling for peace and unity and global harmony along with government controls their way. After awhile the novelty grew old. Then people started seeing that same beloved group as something else. People weren't being so polite as they were before. And on both sides of it. I see it as a residue affect falling from the vocal rhetorics of the recent past that told us we aren't to be trusted, we need to be guided, money is a privilege, and obedience is an absolute or we'll likely shoot you. If you are the wrong......color? gender? sex? orientation? party? People love their freedom. Just as long as something bigger tells them what that means, is, and is able to be enjoyed through following of a pattern of rules for seeing it that way. You know, your way? Everyone has a vision. Billions of minds and intellects picturing how they'd be happy if only .... In this world things could change to the far left. Kids are being as you say indoctrinated into it starting at pre-grade I suspect. We're to be in but not blended with the world. Observe and do not fear. The Lord is with thee.
