This happened to me yesterday... Ironically it happened when someone pointed out that churches are held back because people resist change. The others agreed and as an example I pointed out how people stick the the KJV despite it having some weaknesses (archaic language, words not best translated or in wrong tenses). Whats funny is this, i pointed out the KJV is an excellent translation, but not perfect  but  people actually equate seeing issues in the KJV  as flat out rejecting Gods word and that none of the other translations as bieng Gods word.

Yes, many times even though I also stated that no translation is perfect, without error.

A mature christian would not be bogged down by Bible versions, but would know the history of the early Bible versions and how as the modern era expanded from the horse and buggy to cars and trucks, so  the Bible has it's revolution with organisations or publishing houses coming up with versions for people to get a modern day understanding of scripture.   How a christian sees that is how he look at the message of the Bible and how it relates to his salvation.   Once he sees the criteria for his salvation , then he learns as he goes along, there will always be tares amongst the wheat and it is a life long learning process.   If one is being dogmatic about which is God's word, then he learns, so let it be and goes on with his life and not be triggered into hyper ??.

Now, when he gets into the pre-destination and OSAS matters ect, then bring out the versions and have some dialogue.   Nothing is wrong with that.  It's a journey of a lifetime, that never seems  end .

True, but there are limits, for example "The Queen James Bible", most likely a gender inclusive edition.

Wasn't there a post right here on WCF warning that such a bible was being made several years ago. I know I read it some where. I had hoped it wouldn't happen.

I hear you, but at the same time it all comes down to what they are seeking after, is it truth or words to satisfy their lifestyle.  Satan's job is to bring obscurity and blind, therefore the onus is for the christian to search the scriptures and do some comparison.    We also have to remember, a lot of the third world still has some measure of illiteracy and reading a version of like the KJV, would be very difficult.

Do you think they had this fuss when the Bible was first translated into the KJV? I am guessing there were people back then say "it's not the true word of God!"
