Our churches will have nothing to do with them and warn people from the pulpit about them. Some Emergent pastors are known to use a lot of profanity to make unbelievers feel welcome! It is a very worldly congregation that welcomes everyone as they are and puts them into special interest groups. Repentance is not mentioned. Others have reverted to extreme Calvinism. There is wide diversity among them, but many have departed from Scripture or claim it is only the ideas of men and is not the word of God. Christianity is all about what we do with God's Word; A church that rejects all or select portions of God's word is not a genuine church. It is apostate or just a social club, or even a lodge, but it is not God's church which is connected to the Head, Jesus Christ. People who do not produce fruit of the Holy Spirit are not genuine either. A genuine Christian will hold on to God's Word, will persevere, will cling to Christ and apply God's Word to worldly problems, and will produce good mature fruit. Luk 8:11 ESV Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Luk 8:12 The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. Luk 8:13 And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But these have no root; they believe for a while, and in time of testing fall away. Luk 8:14 And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature. Luk 8:15 As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience. If we lose, or don't cling to and apply God's Word, we may not be truly saved or may lose salvation, however you look at it.. True believer are those who produce good fruit. But for me what breaks it all down into a context that allows me to breathe and not get nervous is that it is all transpiring as prophesied.
