What's this? Illegals don't feel free to openly gather for a foreign holiday celebration?

One would have to be pretty clueless to not know Latin is a dead language.  It IS the foundation of French, Spanish, Italian and English languages though.

Sadly, clueless was one attribute our former VP demonstrated more than once. It's a shame to be elected to be a punchline.

Cinco de Mayo is celebrated in Mexico too; I've been there.  It's a celebration of Mexico's victory in the Battle of Puebla back in the 1800s. :)

A 2007 UCLA Newsroom article notes that, "the holiday, which has been celebrated in California continuously since 1863, is virtually ignored in Mexico."[30] TIME magazine reports that "Cinco de Mayo started to come into vogue in 1940s America during the rise of the Chicano Movement."[21]The holiday crossed over from California into the rest of the United States in the 1950s and 1960s but did not gain popularity until the 1980s when marketers, especially beer companies, capitalized on the celebratory nature of the day and began to promote it.[32][33] It grew in popularity and evolved into a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage, first in areas with large Mexican-American populations, like Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston and San Jose.[34]

Wikipedia needs to visit the Mexican border towns; Cinco de Mayo is definitely celebrated there.regardless of what they say.

lots do here also in Oklahoma, but it's not really possible for me to know who is and is not illegal.   most of our illegals left when we made it a crime to hire them.

I think that is a great law; needs to be made law everywhere.  Turn it around and go to Mexico and try to get a job.  Even the American companies down there won't hire a NonMexican. because it's the law.
