Yes, but with two caveats.

  • It must be provable.  For example, the Bible doesn't answer questions about electrons, protons, and neutrons, but observable science does.  Ergo, the facts of atomic structure be studied.
  • It must not contradict what the Bible says.  Many extra-Biblical sources contradict the Bible.  They are not to be trusted.

Contradict the bible as a whole?

Not necessarily.

2 Maccabees in chapter 12 praises the hero of the story for making monetary offerings for the sins of the dead.  We know that contradicts what the Bible says about salvation.

Ergo, in chapter 2 of 2 Maccabees where it speaks of Jeremiah the prophet hiding the Ark of the Covenant and claiming no one would find where he hid is [1] not provable or disprovable, [2] not in the Bible, [3] is nowhere else in history, and, in my opinion, cannot be taken at face value.

If part of this book is a lie, then perhaps the part that cannot be proven or disproven is a lie also.  One should not embrace the book as fact.

Well, you all should have the same holy spirit (Correct?) It should be teaching you all the same spiritual beliefs.

But all who have the Holy Spirit are not of the same maturity in Him.  You can give a child an encyclopedia, but they will not understand much of what it tells.  They can look at the pictures and imagine, but stumble on the words and meanings.
