A lot of neo-nazis think of interracial marriage, increasing number of mixed-race people, and immigration as "white genocide," and sometimes other people use that term sarcastically to mock them. The university said that it supports free speech but condemns the tweet and plans to meet with the professor, which seems like an appropriate response. It certainly looks like he's sarcastic and immature, but he's definitely not representative of all academia. If my personal experience counts for anything, I never saw this kind of thing from professors when I was in college.
