I've gotten carried away a few times. Here lately I have been asking myself before I post a story in the political forums, "what is my reason for posting this?" If my reason is just to tick off Trump supporters, then I shouldn't post it. Which maybe why I have not posted any new topics. I think the posters that post in the political forums are people who have strong, passionate opinions. The Trump people seem to think that Trump is the best thing to happen to American. While The anti-Trump people think that Trump will cause American to crash and burn. There seems to be no middle ground. You either love Trump or you don't.  And those that do can't understand those that don't and those that don't cant understand those that do.

And I wont be surprise if this topic turns into a fiery debate as well.

I would definitely agree with that last sentiment....with trump there is no middle ground. You either like him or you don't.

I'm Not a Trump fan but I'm not a Trump hater anymore either, and I really like Mike Pence. I think part of the problem is that president Trump is polarizing personally and think that can do the conservative movement a lot of damage long term, that said I feel he has been very very unfairly treated since he took office, with the Democrats trying to drive the wedge further.

I'm still ticked that Goldwater lost.

So it is best for me to avoid the political cable news channels all together, and just enjoy el Beisbol.

I voted for Nixon.

Thing is, some of those who feel "ganged up on" because of their views, often bring it on themselves, they are often as harsh in their comments as anyone is towards them, and often even talk down to those who are pro trump.

I'm not saying that to justify being harsh to them, but it is the truth neither side is guilt free and both could learn to be nice.

You're right. It was called being civil, even if you disagreed vehemently with someone you were supposed to be polite. I may be dating myself here, but I do remember the time when the politicians made a good show of actually debating something and compromising on different bills because everyone understood that neither side was going to get everything they wanted. Now that's devolved into the equivalent of two people up in each others' faces screaming, "My Way or the Highway!!!" at each other with nothing getting done.

And, yes, the ugliness of the political forums caused me to leave them behind also. I'm a lot happier without the drama, and now that I have a professional licensing exam coming up I simply don't have the time.

There was a time in American politics when dueling was the preferred answer to conflict between political opponents.

Perhaps  the threat of duels could bring back some civility, or at the least shorten the periods of discord between opponents.

As it is for now, we just have gutter snipes at Washington, d.c. throwing fits mistaking their own rants for accomplishments. And; there is likely a shortage of prayer to our creator for the likes  of what we vote into political office.  Guess that is up to each one of us  to assess and perhaps step up in prayer.

I think that any present day dueling would be filibustered and postponed until after the mid terms.  Then possibly neither of the duelers would be in office to participate.
