CHURCHPOP

Coptic Christians Bravely Chant Nicene Creed After Bombing in Viral Video

Author: Church Pop Editor April 10, 2017

:th_praying:

What incredible faith!

A video is going viral on Facebook that purportedly shows a crowd of Coptic Christians in Egypt chanting the Nicene Creed in Arabic outside of a church that was bombed.

God bless them. :th_praying:  The Nicene Creed they chant is that Statement of Faith that we here at WCF share with them. Pray for the persecuted church in the middle east. It is not just there where her enemies are found. But as Christ our Lord warned, all over the world. For people shall hate us as they hated him.

What Orthodox Christians Believe

SALVATION is the divine gift through which men and women are delivered from sin and death, united to Christ, and brought into His eternal Kingdom. Those who heard Peter’s sermon on the Day of Pentecost asked what they must do to be saved. He answered, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38). Salvation begins with these three “steps”: 1) repent, 2) be baptized, and 3) receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. To repent means to change our mind about how we have been, turning from our sin and committing ourselves to Christ. To be baptized means to be born again by being joined into union with Christ. And to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit means to receive the Spirit who empowers us to enter a new life in Christ, be nurtured in the Church, and be conformed to God’s image.

Does it offend you to respect the Coptic Christians standing in their faith in the face of the hate and evil in this world that would see them all dead?

Brilliant faith and God's spirit upholding their resolve to not be afraid of the enemy aligned against their very existence. God bless them all.

Thank you Danger Noodle for posting this.

Blessings,

Faith and doctrine must needs go together. You can have faith but if you dont believe correct doctrine that means nothing

One must be pretty rigid on faith and doctrine; some things aren't that important to believe (such as the pre-trib Rapture, whether or not it is proper to celebrate Christmas, which day you choose to honor as a Sabbath) but if you deny the most essential parts of Christian doctrine such as the divinity of Christ (as JWs and Mormons do), Christ being the only agent of salvation (RCs put Mary on the same level with Jesus) then you aren't saved. If you believe in idolatry (RCs) and follow false prophets (seventh day Adventists) then you aren't saved. If you believe in works based salvation (RCs and "Christian" cults) then you aren't saved.

So yes we are saved by grace, and not of ourselves but you cannot expect to be saved if you deny essential doctrine.

Nice sound polemic but I have a curly for u....the thief on the cross could be presumed to know enough doctrine to say what he said and Jesus extended grace to say "Today, you will be with me in paradise"...you agree?

The whole of the Christian faith begins with grace. Now that you are aware of this, how do you know the thief on the cross that Jesus promised paradise didn't hear Jesus when he was ministering to the multitude? How do you know that thief on the cross wasn't nailed there for simply stealing a loaf of bread so he could eat? How do you know that thief wasn't baptized?
The scriptures say God wrote the names of those who would come to his son by his grace in the book of life before God created the world.
