I ask that question because when a person comes to faith how much truth do they know and how much is required to be saved.                                              The gospel Paul preach to the world was number one Jesus Christ crucified and buried.  Jesus died for our sins. And Jesus was resurrected on the third day.                                               And the promises were given in any presentation of the gospel. That anyone who believes in Jesus would have eternal life.                                        Also the truth of who Jesus was has to be preach. Jesus the son of God not born of man but the only begotten son of God.                                                    If we confess this and believe in our hearts we are saved.                                    Do we have to know about justification by faith. No because that is contain in the truth about Jesus

It's like a doctor who saves you. Do you have to know everything he does and how he performed a operation in order to be saved by the doctor. Or did you just trust the doctor.                        I think we can get in a trap by thinking we have to know about all the depth of doctrine in order to be counted as a true christian.                                   Christ crucified is the most inportant. If we have this we are in God's household and are living stones in his temple.

A person has to have asked Jesus Christ into their life and into their heart and be sincere about it.Ask for forgiveness of their sins. They are then saved.

First of all, the true Gospel is that we are saved by grace alone through faith alone  in Christ alone.  The true Gospel is that the locus of saving faith is the finished work of Jesus on the cross.  Righteousness is faith in Christ and is imputed to us on the basis of our faith with no other merit or effort on our part.

Salvation is not something we merit, it is not something earn.  It is not a prize we win or a reward we deserve.  Salvation is 100% a work of God.

You do not have to know every doctrine to be saved, but to be truly saved, you have to hear the correct Gospel.  There is only one Gospel and it is the Gospel of salvation in Christ alone.  It is important to know exactly how salvation is obtained and you need to understand that you are being justified (declared righteous) solely on the grounds of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross.  You have no merit.  It is on Christ's merit that we are saved

The doctor analogy doesn't really make the point that needs to be made because you are comparing two dissimilar things.  Going under the surgeon's knife is not analogous to how we receive eternal life.   If I could be cured by the doctor operating on himself, then you would have a more accurate analogy.

Like the thief on the cross, no, one only needs to believe in Jesus and have faith in all His redemptive works... If they are told that much.

I'd say no.  Accepting Christ and being 'born again' is the first step.  They're saved at that point, but they have just stepped onto a long path of learning about Christ.  As with a young child, there's a lot to learn.

You said the true Gospel is we are saved through grace  alone through faith  alone in christ alone. That's not fully true. We are saved by the triune God. Not by Jesus alone. And the goodnews is not about justification by faith alone. The gospel is the preaching of the cross of Jesus.  He died and was crucified on the cross. And was raised three days. We are saved through faith but that's not the gospel but is contained in the gospel.

If a person hears the gospel of Jesus they have a choice. Not all who hear God's word come to Christ.

John 3:16 tells us that our belief in Jesus Christ saves us.

That is true we are all still learning but they are saved. They will go to heaven.
