Is this part of Scripture? Why do so many state this? Any ideas?

Here is where I find "Love the sinner, hate the sin". People can add other verses to this, but here is a simple view. Matthew 5:43-45 You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren. How we should be toward one another. It's not intended to minimize ones accountability in committing sin. Yet that's how most use it. How unfortunate! Thank you!!! Rom 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. We look beyond their faults and see their needs, as the song says.; That is how God sees us. And we are to see in others what God sees. Underneath all the ugliness and sin is a person that God created and loves so much He sent Jesus to pay for them with His own blood. So we are to love others because they are God's creation and He wants to wash them and restore them as His own child. He sees underneath all the ugliness that there is great pain, need, loneliness and wounds that He can heal; He wants to care for their/our needs. Like wounded animals sometimes they are afraid to let Him near them. But as they learn to trust Him they find His kindness and merciful love brings the healing they so desperately need, and God makes them His own again. It is our privilege to gain the trust of the wounded by telling them of God's healing love for them. We can be a part of bringing them back to God. We can demonstrate God's love for them. We can tell them that we also had been where they are, but God forgave us of all the evil we have done and our shortcomings, and adopted us anyhow. He is still helping us to be more like Him. Guest Teditis
Sometimes, it depends on how long we linger on "their sin"... it shouldn't have to become the central part of a discussion.

If we quoted all the scriptures every time, people would quickly tune us out. So a quick summary works to set the tone, then we use individual scriptures for detailed discussion and support. God loved us so much that He sent His only begotten son. That love was expressed to everyone (except Satan) before we even knew who God was...or is. It is stated clearly in Scripture that God hates sin. When you combined these, it comes out as God loves the sinner but hates the sin.

While not totally biblical, we are toove each other ( out neighbours) but still have God's attitude to sin ... ie hate it. Living someone means sometime correcting ,chastisibgvand rebuking then for their sinfulness in the hopes of them repenting. Sadly we can sometimes fear being accused of judging and we ignore sin

The parent loves the child but they don't love the fact the child put a rock through Mrs.Neighbors window. “Scratching people where they itch and addressing their ‘felt needs’ is a stratagem of the poor steward of the oracles of God. This was the recipe for success for the false prophets of the Old Testament.” R. C. SPROUL

Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives." (Jude 1:22-23, Holy Bible).
