14 bya- 4.5 bya

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth...

This seems to imply there are multiple heavens and only one earth. Would the writer know there are multiple heavens and only one earth? Or is he indicating that the multiple heavens include universes, galaxies, solar systems, planets as well as earth, including the levels of spiritual dimensions? We know through science there are galaxies everywhere too numerous to count and it appears the universe started in one singularity point 13.8-14 bya (billion year ago). Dr. Frank J. Tipler believes that God is in fact the singularity point because according to physics nothing exists beyond the singularity point.

4.5bya-2.0bya

Genesis 1:2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the spirit of God was moving over the waters.

We know during this time period that as the earth coalesced with the solar system around the sun, it was indeed formless and void. It was then being hit by a multitude of asteroids coupled with violent volcanoes. These 2 periods were called the early bombardment period (4.5-4.1bya) and the later bombardment period (4.1-3.8bya). It appears the earth itself was a very hot core of rock added with the asteroid hits and the volcanic activity. As a result, the earth steadily cooled and solidified into sub-zero temperatures). The first rocks appeared 3.8bya and grew as volcanoes spewed more lava creating steam and heat. As the surface cooled (2.0bya) dry land resembled lava fields, and the steam collected into abundant water in shallow pools, ponds, lakes, and seas.

This passage seems to indicate was exactly happening on the earth between 4.5-2bya. The earth did not have form and it was void of life. It appears the earth did not have a rotational spin around the sun and perhaps there was also no axis on the earth as well indicating no 'time' as we know it had been set up yet. The word darkness in Hebrew also indicates chaos and this certainly seems to be the case as this was an extremely chaotic violent environment. The last part of the sentence states that God's spirit was moving over the waters suggesting that at this time, the earth had cooled substantially creating an abundant amount of water in various forms (waters) and that many of them were deep.

Genesis 3.1 Then God said, let there be light, and there was light.

In this passage it seems to say that God is making order out of chaos as we see in John 1, the light shines in the darkness. This doesn't seem to indicate physical light, however, it could be possible that God is saying here that he is setting up the Earth...to be continued
