Not swearing to that one but it's a possibility. I gave up sodas about five years ago after I saw a time lapse video of Coca Cola dissolving raw hamburger. Yikes! Coca Cola is has a very strong acid content.... My dad was the plant manager of a 7up plant where I grew up till I was about 12. Back in the bottling days it was a pretty neat process to watch.... kind of dangerous though for once or twice a day a bottle would explode in the carbonating process and capping that would send glass shards across the plant like a hand grenade. you could tell the two bottlers from the others for they were all scarred up like old time hockey goaltenders. The concentrated syrup that is mixed with the water and co2 is treated like hazardous material back then. Same safety considerations as battery acid. Just pour it on and wait and you have a clean garage floor. That is how caustic the stuff is. Pouring coca cola on my floor did not clean it but it did make it very sticky. I know cause I knocked a bottle of coke off the table and it exploded onto my floor. Oh that was a mess! We clean stuff with water and we still drink that. So will baking soda. And I am not pouring perfectly good soda down the drain.

Don't forget that chocolate has caffeine in it. Dark chocolate is loaded with caffeine. Oh man! You take my soda away now you took my chocolate. How do I go on with my life with no chocolate? But to those who drink soda, it would be a waste. I DO use baking soda too though; it's a great deodorizer for cat litter boxes and refrigerators and does a bang up job cleaning my glass top stove. Guest
Never had a problem with caffeine or coffee. I need it to do stay awake at my job. I think when you've way overdone it, then you have problems.
